To ensure we are able to work efficiently and effectively patients are encouraged to complete eConsult if they wish to have an appointment with a doctor or nurse. Online consultation (eConsult) is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and means you do not need to phone. This ensures the right person receives your request and is able to resolve it quickly.

At the current time most GP consultations will continue to be done remotely via telephone consultation or video link. We will continue to provide face to face appointments for examinations and procedures where this is the best and safest way to help you.

We now operate eConsult, a telephone based appointment system. It can be accessed from the Home Page of this website. However, if your problem is so urgent that you feel there is risk to life that could be jeopardised by the time it takes to fill in the eConsult form, please call the surgery and if the problem meets the criteria for this, a duty doctor will be asked to call you back as soon as possible.

We are now able to offer patients urgent appointments for acute illnesses at Brants Bridge Urgent Care Centre. These are bookable appointments that have to be made through the surgery as they currently only offer a walk-in service for minor injuries but not minor illnesses.

Such situations do not include prescription requests or symptoms that have been on-going for several days. If the problem is so urgent that you cannot wait for a call back, even for a little while, then you should access the emergency ambulance service by calling 999 or going to your nearest A & E department.

Why does the receptionist need to ask what’s wrong with me?

Our reception staff are important members of the practice team and it has been agreed they should ask patients ‘why they need to be seen’.

We have trained our reception staff to ask certain questions to help make sure you receive the most appropriate medical care from the most appropriate health professional at the most appropriate time.
